Living in C.H.A.O.S.?
Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome?
FlyLady has helped me in the past, and I think it's time I joined her again.
http://www.flylady.net/ She has an extremely structured system, but structure really helps with overwhelm.
One of the key principles is "baby steps" - doing 15 minutes of something tedious a day. She talks about decluttering your house, but I also find it a helpful principle for other chores sometimes. Each week there's a particular "zone" to focus on, which helps when you don't know where to start. I made up my own zones for dealing with my office too. The house zones are listed at this link: http://www.flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan.asp . My office zones are as follows: 1= left side of the desk, 2=right side of the desk, 3=bookcase and file drawers, 4=floor and walls, 5=email & voicemail boxes.
